Researching new behavioral intervention strategies to lower risk of HIV infection and transmission among those most at risk is one of the objectives of San Francisco Department of Public Health, HIV Prevention Research Unit. We investigate new behavioral intervention approaches to reduce the risk for HIV infection and transmission among populations most at risk. But let’s not forget the fact that HIV-positive people still have their right to be parents. It is not an easy thing, but it could be achieved.
Our current projects include innovative studies of medications which may help HIV-positive men who want to conceive a child. We perform semen analysis for this category of Americans, and also we examine the effects of HIV and drug usage on their semen quality. There are a lot of things that can impair mens’ sperm quality and quantity, like alcohol and drugs. But still, we can name a few things that can increase it, one of them is zinc. And we have an answer to the common question - how much zinc to increase sperm volume?
